John has 40+ years of community banking experience in Southwest Louisiana working in banking organizations from $30 million start-ups to $300 billion national banks. Nichols brings best-in-class service and a celebrated career of professional service. Prior to being promoted to his current position, John was Calcasieu Regional President, Chief Credit Officer and a member of the Board of Directors. Prior to joining FNBD, he served as Sr. EVP and Chief Credit Officer for MidSouth Bank. John is a graduate of LSU in Commercial Banking, and has received diplomas from Graduate School of Banking at LSU, ABA National Commercial Lending School at the University of Oklahoma, GSBS Shesunoff Masters in Banking and American Institute of Banking. He and his wife Jennifer have made Lake Charles their home, raising two sons and enjoying their grandchildren. John was born in DeRidder and is a third generation banker with FNBD.
John is passionate about community involvement - which aligns perfectly with the FNBD mission, and has been involved in the community by volunteering his time to United Way, Immaculate Conception Cathedral Parish, Immaculate Conception Cathedral School, and many other local civic clubs.
