General Summary

Serves as the "face of the bank", building relationships with customers while performing financial transactions including paying, receiving, and cash control duties; in a training capacity. Seeks to uncover financial needs, minimize loss, reduce risk, and deliver accurate and superior customer service.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

  • Minimum six (6) months cash-handling experience in a customer service role preferred

  • Previous banking experience is a plus

Basic Qualifications

  • Basic math aptitude

  • Knowledge of computer and software application

  • Knowledge of ten-key number pad

  • Ability to work under time constraints, use good judgment, and act in a tactful, professional, non-irritated manner while dealing with the public and co-workers

  • Must have a professional appearance and manner

  • Effectively communicates using verbal, non-verbal, and written skills

  • Ability to work alongside co-workers in a team environment

  • Reliable attendance

Responsibilities and Duties

Include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assists in the branch Risk Management Review process to include monitoring bait money, ensuring dual control procedures are followed, following branch opening/closing procedures, setting security alarms, etc.

  • Assists in managing operational loss within the branch to include seeking supervisory override for transactions outside of authority, exercising proper hold placement for loss mitigation, and executing superior balancing

  • Complies with federal, state, local, and Bank regulations, policies, and procedures

  • Accurately utilizes equipment and remains knowledgeable of equipment functionality to perform role

  • Proactively listens for product referral opportunities and participates in sales campaigns/programs focused on customer need identification

  • Adheres to professionalism standards to include demeanor, dress, and station orderliness

  • Demonstrates superior quality customer service (both in person and over the phone) by greeting customers, using their names, making eye contact, smiling, thanking for business, and offering additional products/services

  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality with all information obtained

  • May function in a mentor capacity offering guidance, instruction, and coaching to fellow Tellers enforcing policy and procedure

  • Images proof work through branch capture machine to include reviewing work and making corrections

  • Performs service duties, including but not limited to: processing night deposits, paying and receiving, selling cashier’s checks, handling cash items, receiving note payments, receiving items for collection, processing credit card cash advances, redeeming U.S. Savings Bonds, balancing assigned cash drawer, assisting in safe deposit box customer entry, balancing the Automated Teller Machine (ATM), verifying currency sales and purchases, assisting vault teller, etc
